Alpha Anderson has been an Elementary teacher at Pacifica Montessori since 2011. She graduated from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) as a trained elementary (ages 6 -12) teacher. Alpha pursued becoming an AMI teacher while studying early childhood development. When she discovered that Maria Montessori came up with a method to guide an individual to his or her full potential, via the use of many senses, Alpha was intrigued by this and the concept of following the child rather than a textbook.
Alpha began her teaching career in the arts as a dance instructor, teaching jazz, tap, and ballet to children and teenagers. She also helped plan events with teens of military families, as a recreation coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club of Honolulu. These positions were rewarding to Alpha because she loved seeing the joy in a child after gaining a new skill.
Alpha enjoys planting seeds of knowledge, and watching the students blossom into masters of their studies. She feels fortunate to be able to work at a school with such an amazing support group (the staff). “We work together to make sure we provide the best environment and opportunities for our students.”
Alpha’s leisure time consists of spending time with her family and friends. She often researches topics of interest, creates abstract paintings, and goes running. She also enjoys traveling to foreign places, learning Spanish, camping, hiking, biking, practicing the piano, listening to jazz, dancing, and going to museums and beaches. Back to Our Staff Page.
